TK – 6th Grade Music Class
Elementary Music is offered to every OJUSD student from TK through 6th grade. Students come to music class one day per week for thirty minutes where they will sing, dance, play games, play instruments, and much more! While participating in these fun activities students will also be learning how to recognize and read music.
Choir
Elementary Choir is available to students beginning in 4th grade. These students attend choir classes once a week for thirty minutes and rehearse songs they will later perform. Each elementary site has its own choir and they each perform twice a year; once in December and once in May.
Beginning Band
Beginning Band is available to students starting in the 5th grade. These are students that have never played their instrument before. Students can choose to play a flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, xylophone, or percussion. Students meet once a week for 30 minutes to practice songs they will later perform. The elementary schools make up one large band and will come together twice a year for their concerts; once in December and once in May.
Intermediate Band
Intermediate Band is available to students in the 6th grade. These students have been playing their instrument for one year. These students meet once a week for 45 minutes and practice more difficult songs than they did in Beginning Band. Like Beginning Band, the elementary schools make up one large band and will come together twice a year for their concerts; once in December and once in May.
